Function

We require a Technical Consultant to work in the Professional Services division to implement the Sopra Banking Software products on client focused delivery projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical project activities including the design and delivery of the solutions. The Technical Consultant is tightly integrated into both development and client technical teams. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to forge a career within a growing and progressive software business.

The role will be based in one of our Sheffield, Edinburgh, Dunstable, or London offices with some travel to client locations around the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consulting with SBS clients to plan and implement software changes, upgrades and new systems
  • System installation activities covering Oracle Database, Oracle Forms, JEE Application Servers Linux, UNIX and Microsoft Windows Server
  • Researching and designing software deployment processes introducing automation and documentation
  • Technical support, troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Occasionally it may be necessary to work outside of office hours on system upgrade projects.

Profile

Candidate Profile

  • One or more years of hands-on experience implementing enterprise software
  • Ability to quickly gather requirements and design technical solutions
  • Stakeholder management skills including the ability to interface with clients
  • Keen to take ownership and resolve issues with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of DevOps, agile development, and operations support processes.

Technical Experience

Experienced in several of the following technical skillsets:

  • Deep technical background covering databases, operating systems, networking, application performance troubleshooting, load balancing, security hardening
  • Oracle DBA
  • UNIX, Linux and Windows Systems Administration
  • Cloud Platforms, specifically; AWS, Azure, Oracle
  • Networks (routing, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, etc.)
  • DevOps orchestration/IAC toolsets (e.g. Ansible, TerraForm)
  • Docker containers, Kubernetes, Openshift
  • Extract Transform Load (ETL) using PL/SQL
  • Programming Shell/PERL/Python/Java/SQL
