Function

Sopra Banking Software is currently seeking a Senior Software Consultant to join our rapidly expanding customer dedicated team. As a Senior Software Consultant, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary scrum team that offers tailor-made solutions to our customers. You will be based in our Durham or Sheffield offices, but must be flexible and able to travel as and when required.

A Senior Software Consultant is expected to:

• Write the source code, support the team by offering knowledge regarding IT infrastructure and the technical platform.
• To realise this, you don’t only need a passion for IT but you also need a clear and open view on all the business aspects and the specific banking context of the clients. This means you have to understand and learn how a bank really works (back-office, payments, money transfers..).
• Analyse the requirements of our clients and translate those in concrete solutions, together with the rest of the team.
• Assist the 1st and the 2nd line support team whenever necessary to resolve technical incidents
• Root-cause analysis together with the R&D team in case of technical incidents and implement the solutions at the client side afterwards
• Write technical documentation that illustrate your problem solving thinking
• Coach new and existing colleagues, sharing best development practises and

Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

• Circa 5 years’ experience developing object-orientated Java applications with Spring framework
• Degree educated;
• A experience of working closely with customers and end users
• Experience of working in an Agile environment
• Experience in defining solution architecture
• A proven track record in taking the development lead in solution building
• Ability to lead and manage a development team

Skillset:

Required – Java and Oracle languages, JBoss, Hibernate and Spring frameworks and SOA knowledge
Desirable – C/C++, HTML, CSS, JS, bash/ksh languages, JQuery, Apache CXF frameworks, and API design, web security, SaaS.

Salary range of £30,000 - £40,000 p/a
